Ultimate Secure Top Ten Spot in Bucharest Qualifying
TEAM NEWS: ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT CONTINUED THEIR RISE UP THE LADDER IN THE BRITISH F3 INTERNATIONAL SERIES WHEN THEY SECURED THEIR FIRST EVER TOP-TEN GRID SPOT IN OPENING QUALIFYING FOR ROUND THREE IN BUCHAREST.
Irishman Michael Devaney picked his way around the narrow street circuit in the Romanian Capital to lead home team-mate Esteban Guerrieri, who finished the session in 14 th place after being involved in two incidents during the 30-minute session peppered with red flags.
Team manager Jonny Ostrowski said: "Michael put in a fantastic performance on the tricky street circuit to secure what I am sure will be the first of many top ten grid spots for Ultimate Motorsport and the Mygale car. Esteban was also on the pace but suffered from a few incidents in the end.
"Both cars were building pace all the time and they were working up to their quick runs when, unfortunately, Esteban had a brush with the wall. The resulting red flag prevented Michael from making it into the top six. Esteban visited hospital for an X-ray but we expect him to be ready after attention overnight.
"This circuit has already proven a great challenge as the cars go quicker and quicker and success in tomorrow's second qualifying session and in the races tomorrow and Sunday will be very much down to how quickly the teams develop their set-ups. We are confident we are going in the right direction."
Devaney said: "The car felt good and it was pleasing to get it into the top ten for the first time. It is exciting the way things are going here as we keep improving race by race. Being as high up the grid as possible is essential on a street circuit like this, so it will be interesting to see where we get to tomorrow."
Guerrieri added: "We made a good start and it was unfortunate our positive pace suffered from a couple of incidents during the session. 'Frankie' Cheng collided with the back of my car and then late in the session I made a mistake and ended in the tyre barriers when it looked like being a very quick lap."
