DRIVER NEWS: This weekend sees a return to the UK for rounds 7 and 8 of the British Formula 3 International series at Snetterton. For the first time this season Bahraini racing star Hamad Al Fardan will be racing on a track he is familiar with - at the beginning of May he topped the time sheets on day one of official testing at the Norfolk track.
During the test the Performance Racing driver posted a time of 1:02.896 around the 1.9 mile track, with an average speed of 111.71mph, just 1.654 seconds behind the quickest Championship Class driver, Raikkonen Robertson Racing's Stephen Jelley. On day two Hamad clocked the second quickest time of the morning session just behind his team-mate Frankie Cheng.
Al Fardan secured his first podium finish of the championship in Bucharest two weeks ago after driving to a fantastic third place in the National Class in race one. He qualified second for race two but an unfortunate brush with the wall prematurely ended a great weekend.
Hamad's third place finish in Bucharest means he heads to Snetterton this weekend maintaining his 9th place in the championship with 20 points. This year it is widely acknowledged that the National Class is one of the most competitive for years so the GFH backed driver will be looking for two strong results to put pressure on his championship rivals.
Commenting on the race ahead he said "I can't wait to get back on track at Snetterton. We had a really great weekend in Bucharest and getting my first podium there was fantastic but I'm looking forward to racing back in the UK on a track I am familiar with. I had a really good test at Snetterton at the beginning of May and was quickest on day one so I'm confident I can get a good result and hopefully my first win!"
Round 7 of the 2007 Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series is due to start at 11.40 on Sunday 03rd June, with round 8 getting underway at 16.15.
