TEAM NEWS: Ultimate Hoping for Home Glory at Silverstone
TEAM NEWS: ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT WILL RETURN TO THEIR HOME CIRCUIT OF SILVERSTONE THIS WEEKEND HOPING TO CONTINUE THEIR PUSH TO THE FRONT OF THE LLOYDS TSB INSURANCE BRITISH F3 INTERNATIONAL SERIES IN THE EIGHTH ROUND OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
The Northamptonshire-based outfit, which runs Mygale-Mercedes cars, launched in spectacular style at Silverstone's British Racing Drivers' Club at the end of February and has grown into a smartly structured team that is chasing down podiums in an exciting debut season.
Irishman Michael Devaney secured the team a best finish of fourth place in their last race on British soil at Brands Hatch last month and after two tough but promising outings in Belgium, at Spa and Zolder, they return ready to fight the leading teams for a place on the podium.
Team owner Barry Walsh said: "It seems like ages since we were here at Silverstone announcing our arrival into motorsport. Since then there has been a lot of hard graft and we have firmly established the team as a serious player that likes to have a lot of fun along the way.
"But we have only just begun. The team is gaining identity off the track as quickly as it is gaining speed on it, and we are getting comfortable in our environment. It is great to be back where it all started – and it would be even better to mark our return with one of our drivers stepping onto the podium."
Team manager Jonny Ostrowski added: "It has been a rollercoaster ride and every time we end up a little bit higher! We had good pace at Spa two weekends ago then ran even quicker in the Masters at Zolder, although the results didn't show it. Hopefully Silverstone will see us get to the next level – a podium finish."
The team opened its points-scoring account at Donington Park in the second race of the season, having seen both cars make it to the finish on their debut at Oulton Park on Easter weekend. Since then, they have climbed up the order and are now within striking distance of a podium.
Argentine driver Esteban Guerrieri said: "I was here from the start, and I can tell you we have come a long way. The car has improved thanks to some strong teamwork between Ultimate and Mygale and we are now quicker at overcoming any problems we encounter than we were earlier in the season.
"I am sure we will have a large contingent of supporters out around the circuit at Silverstone this weekend, being so close to our base at Sywell, so it would really be a great feeling to show them where we have come by chasing down that elusive podium finish. I can't wait!"
Devaney added: "This team is a truly professional outfit with that streak of fun running through it – thanks in great part to Barry's unique personality! We are having a really good year and learning loads as we go, so this weekend we are hoping to continue that progression.
"We have tested a few times at the Silverstone track and we have plenty of data to use to get the car up to speed quickly. So this weekend I would like to do a little less learning and a little more top-three running – but we will have to wait and see on that! We will get there."
