RD15 QUAL: Lucky 7 for Number 7 – Asmer takes 7th Pole of 2007
Marko Asmer (#7 Hitech Racing) took his 7th pole of the season, 0.166s ahead of Atte Mustonen (#26 Raikkonen Roberston Racing). Rodolfo Gonzalez (#9 T Sport) scored his best qualifying position of the year in 3rd, three hundredths quicker than Greg Mansell (#50 Fortec). Asmer’s nearest championship rivals Sam Bird (#3 Carlin) and Maro Engel (#23 Carlin) could only manage 7th and 5th fastest respectively and were split by Stephen Jelley (#1 Raikkonen Robertson Racing).
Sergio Perez (#31 T Sport) also scored his 9th National Class pole position, four tenths and four places ahead of ‘Frankie’ Cheng (#39 Performance Racing), with Salmon Al Khalifa (#77 T Sport) in third two tenths behind Cheng for the Bahraini drivers best qualifying performance of the season.
