Breen Tops the Times in morning test session at Thruxton
Ireland's Niall Breen (#21 Carlin Motorsport) set the early pace at Thruxton finishing the opening 55-minute session twenty-two hundredths of a second ahead of team mate Sam Bird (#3 Carlin Motorsport). Third fastest was Stephen Jelley (#1 Raikkonen Robertson Racing) just ahead of championship leader Marko Asmer (#7 Hitech Racing).
The Irish driver's time of 1m06.612 was also well inside the current British F3 lap record for Thruxton held by Charlie Kimball (1m06.921) but it doesn't constitute a new lap record because that has to set during one of the two races on Sunday.
In the National Class Frankie Cheng (#39 Performance Racing) was top of the list, 0.045 seconds ahead of championship leader Sergio Perez (#31 T Sport).
The second test session of the day is due to get underway at 13:00 this afternoon and will last a total of 115 minutes.
