DRIVER NEWS: Penultimate British F3 round for Al Fardan at Croft

DRIVER NEWS:  Gulf  Finance  House driver Hamad  Al  Fardan  heads  to  the  penultimate round of the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series this weekend hoping to take third place in the National Class championship. The young Bahraini is currently fourth with 148 points, just 5 less than championship rival Michael Meadows with four rounds and a maximum 84 points remaining.

While Marko Asmer has runaway with the Championship Class, the National Class has proved to be a much more  frantic  battle between  Mexico's Sergio Perez and China's  Frankie Cheng, the  two  drivers  dominating  with  15  wins  between  them.  Al  Fardan's  closest  rival  Michael Meadows  started  the  season  strong  with  two  early  race  wins  but  since  switching  to  the Raikkonen Robertson Racing team has failed to repeat his success.

During  the  second  half  of  the season  Meadows  has  continued  to  battle  hard  and  proved  a tough racer for Al Fardan to catch but unlike his British rival the GFH driver has had a change of fortune  throughout his rookie season.  After a disastrous start, including  two  DNF's  at the opening round in Cheshire, Al Fardan heads to the North Yorkshire track this weekend hoping to reproduce the form that has seen him clinch ten podium finishes this season.

Speaking about the weekend ahead, Al Fardan said "I had a really great weekend at Thruxton, especially  after race two when I shared the podium with Salman. It was great for Bahrain to have two drivers on the podium together.

"This weekend will be the first time I will be driving at Croft, but we have been working very hard to  get  to the position we are now  and  we are  confident of bringing good results.  I  am happy  with  the team  and  happy  with  the  sponsors,  and  everything  is going  well.  I  will  be fighting hard to get onto the podium again, and hopefully finish the season on a high."

Peter Panayiotou,  Acting CEO for GFH added "Hamad's drive and dedication has inspired the GFH  team  to  support  him  in  his efforts this weekend  at  Croft  in  a  bid  to  earn  the coveted number one position."
