BF3 Drivers Past and Present Hold Sway at Macau

Oliver Jarvis dominated the Macau Grand Prix to take the biggest win of his career so far.  Jarvis, who finished second in the 2006 Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series behind last year's Macau GP winner Mike Conway, took the chequered flag 1.7 seconds ahead of Kodai Tsukakoshi and Japanese F3 Champion Kazuya Oshima. 2007 British F3 Champion Marko Asmer had to settle for 4th after challenging Jarvis for the lead in the early part of the race, but did post the fastest lap of the race, which was also a new Macau lap record.

Jarvis started the race from pole position with Asmer in 2nd.  The Estonian challenged the leader off the line but couldn't find a way around Jarvis and lost out before the end of the lap to Oshima and British F3 Rookie Champion Sam Bird.  Asmer recovered to regain 3rd from Bird by slip tsreaming the Carlin Dallara on the main straight at the start of lap 2 and then started to reel in Oshima.  For several laps th eeladers held station until a safety car period was called after Frank Mailleux crashed heavily.

At the restart Jarvis pulled away from Oshima while Asmer was caught out by Tsukakoshi on the run down to Mandarin Bend.  Two laps latter Tsukakoshi passed Oshima but Jarvis controlled the race to take the chequered flag.  Marko Asmer had the consolation of being the fastest driver on th etrack, posting the fastest lap of the race on lap 6.

Sam Bird finished a credible 6th on his first visit to Macau, after being passed by Brazilian Roberto Streight.  Former Hitech front runner James Jakes was 7th, with Stephen Jelley in 9th and Carlin's 2008 signing Brendon Hartley finishing 12th on his Macau debut.  Esteban Guerrieri finshed the race in 15th and Walter Grubmuller, also in his first Macau GP, was classified in 18th.
