Canadian driver joins Fortec Motorsport Ltd for British F3 in 2008
DRIVER NEWS: Canadian Majorspeed.com driver Philip Major has announced that he has signed with Fortec Motorsport Ltd, for the 2008 Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series. Major has been in the UK since the early fall – and has been testing with his new team. The signing will mark another milestone in the career of the Canadian driver, as it is the first season that he will compete outside of North America.
“Everything has gone very well so far,” Major, who is 18 years old, and a veteran of two seasons of FBMW USA competition, said of his pre-season testing. “Fortec is a very good team with very good people, and we have been working hard to get ready for the upcoming season. It’s a huge jump in competition from FBMW to F3, but it is one I am really looking forward to.”
Major also talked about next year. “I am really looking forward to competing in Formula 3,” Major said. “I think this is a very good step for my career and I am looking forward to 2008 already.”
Team Owner/Director Richard Dutton is very excited about having the young Canadian driver join his team for 2008. “Philip has shown very well in his testing so far,” Dutton noted. “The biggest challenge for him is learning all the new circuits that he will compete on next year. We at Fortec are delighted that he has joined us for the 2008 British F3 Championship.”
