||Jaime Alguersuari after taking a double pole on his British F3 debut
Jaime Alguersuari (#4 Carlin) took a second pole position on his Oulton Park and British F3 debut. A snow flurry just before the 30-minute session began had some of the drivers waiting in the pitlane but Alguersuari timed his run perfectly, finishing 0.242 seconds ahead of Marcus Ericsson (#8 Fortec) and 0.552 seconds in front of Walter Grubmuller (#2 Hitech). Andy Meyrick (#56 Carlin) also took his second pole position in the National Class, 0.5 seconds ahead of second placed Salman Al Khalifa (#57 T Sport).
At the start of the session it was Grubmuller who led the way but soon had to give way as first Max Chilton (#1 Hitech) and then Sergio Perez (#9 T Sport) went fastest in quick succession. Nick Tandy (#28 JTR) also had a good early session in the JTR Mygale, running as high as 3rd place as at the half way point of the session.
With 16 minutes to go Grubmuller went quickest but two minutes later Alguersuari posted a 1m29.000 lap to go to the top of the time sheets. The times continued to tumble as Chilton and then Alguersuari swapped fastest times and with 10 minutes to go the Spaniard set the time that wouldn't be beaten for the rest of the session.
Kristjan Einar caused waved yellows following the Icelandic drivers spin at Hislops which left the Carlin Dallara on the kerbs. The waved yellows forced all drivers to slow down and the times settled as the final 10 minutes of the session approached. The yellows were withdrawn and Ericsson improved his times to move into second place but he was unable to close on the time set by Alguersuari.
The session finished 6 minutes early after Stefan Wilson (#51 Fluid) went off heavily at Old Hall and the red and chequered flags came out. Wilson climbed out of the car unaided and Jaime Alguersuari had claimed his second pole position of the day.
Canadian Philip Major was forced to miss the 30-minute session after an engine change failed to cure a problem with his Fortec Dallara. The team think it is down to an electrical problem which they will work to solve before Monday's races.
