Driver changes bring new opportunities for Ultimate
TEAM NEWS: Argentine driver Esteban Guerrieri, who clinched Ultimate Motorsport's best-ever finish in the British F3 International Series, is to graduate to the World Series by Renault with sister team Ultimate Signature.
Guerrieri's first Ultimate Signature race in the 3.5-litre formula will be at Silverstone for round four of the series this weekend from June 7-8. The 23-year-old will contest the remainder of the Renault season with Ultimate Signature, replacing Claudio Cantelli.
British driver Alastair Jackson has taken Guerrieri's place in the Ultimate Motorsport British F3 squad with immediate effect. Although Jackson is a newcomer to Ultimate Motorsport, he has already accumulated plenty of Formula 3 experience in both the British and Asian F3 Championships.
Guerrieri also has previous experience of the World Series by Renault, having competed at last year's race in Magny-Cours. Guerrieri said: "I'm delighted to have this chance, and I fully intend to make the most of it. My aim is just to learn as much as possible as quickly as I can, and push hard for some good result. I don't think I should have any problem adapting to the extra power, as when I drove the car previously I felt comfortable with it straight away. I'm really looking forward to the race at Silverstone this weekend to see what we can do."
Jackson commented: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me, and I fully intend to make the most of it. Obviously taking over from somebody of the calibre of Esteban is a big responsibility, but with the help of the team I'm confident that I can rise to the occasion. It will obviously take a bit of time for us to get to know each other perfectly, but I'm sure it won't be too long before I'm fully up to speed."
Team Owner Barry Walsh concluded: "We've decided that it will be good for both teams to have a bit of a shake-up and give our drivers some new opportunities. Unfortunately this means that Claudio isn't able to complete the season with us, but I would like to thank him for his services and I wish him every success in the future. By promoting Esteban to the World Series by Renault squad, our aim at Ultimate Signature is to have two cars at the sharp end of the grid challenging for victories. This opportunity for Esteban has obviously created another opportunity in Formula 3, so we're delighted to give Alastair the chance that he deserves. I'm confident that we will be able to unlock his potential in the same way that we did with Esteban and we look forward to seeing some strong performances from him in the future."
