Bridger takes Championship Lead at his home circuit
DRIVER NEWS: In the first race of the British F3 International Seriesheld at Brands Hatch over the weekend Jay Bridger, from Horsmonden, started from Pole position in the National Class. He managed to get a good start and held the lead into the first corner.
He came under pressure from Johnathan Legris, who normally races in the Spanish Championship, on the first lap but defended well and maintained the lead. In the second half of the race Jay set the fastest lap and had started to pull away but unfortunately the Safety Car was deployed due to an accident in the International Class, preventing Jay from continuing to extend his lead. Ultimately the race was red flagged, giving Jay the win and enabling him to take the lead in the Championship.
The start of the second race was always going to be more difficult as there were 4 International class cars between Jay and pole sitter Guerrero, one of which stalled at the start, delaying Jay. This resulted in him slipping to third position. Ultimately Jay managed to get right behind Al Khalifa in second place but, already leading the championship, did not want to risk not finishing, so settled for third place.
Jay now leads the Championship by 24 points from nearest rival Andy Meyrick
